Chandigarh, 07th July:-- The Punjab government and the Tata group has decided to set up a network of skill development centres in joint venture to impart training to the youth in the different trades in accordance with the emerging trends and needs of the local industry in the state.  Panjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal asked the state technical education to work out modalities to initially open such centre in Punjab on pilot basis which could be later replicated in other parts of the state. He shared his vision for the up-gradation of skill development amongst the youth to enable them to be gainfully employed besides ensuring them huge job opportunities to compete with their counterparts globally. Badal hoped that after the successful implementation this model to be jointly launched by the state government and Tata group, would result in training nearly 4000-5000 youth annually in different trades after which either they could be successfully self-employed or absorbed in local industry.  He underscored the need of up gradation of skills for youth to achieve the ultimate objective of human resource development as the traditional agriculture in state has already reached at saturation and shift from it to industry was the need of the hour, which could only be possible through skill development
