The Board of IndiGo Announces the Appointment of William Walsh as Chief Executive Officer

Chandigarh, Mar.31, 2026:- The Board of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) today appointed William Walsh as the Chief Executive Officer, subject to Regulatory approvals. William Walsh's tenure at IATA comes to a close on the 31st of July, 2026, and he is expected to join no later than on the 3rd of August, 2026.

 

William Walsh (popularly known as Willie) is currently the Director General of IATA (International Air Transport Association) and was formerly CEO of British Airways and IAG (International Airlines Group, a holding company which owns Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, Level and Vueling).

William Walsh's distinguished career highlights commence from his role as a pilot, COO and then CEO of Aer Lingus, (2000-2005); CEO of British Airways, (2005-2011); CEO of IAG (2011-2020); and since then, the Director General of IATA (International Air Transport Association).

 

In his new role as IndiGo's CEO, William Walsh will be responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the airline with a focus on transformational initiatives to strengthen the operational performance, advance the Company's network and commercial strategy while enhancing customer experience. He will work closely with the Board and the leadership team to rightfully position IndiGo as it scales up to the next phase of its growth.

If CPDL Fails to Bring Reforms, the Congress will not Hesitate to Launch Major Agitation on the Streets: H S Lucky

Chandigarh, Mar.31, 2026:-The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee has launched a strong attack on the functioning of the electricity distribution company CPDL, warning it to immediately improve its operations. The party has clearly stated that if the company fails to bring reforms, the Congress will not hesitate to launch a major agitation on the streets.

The President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, H.S. Lucky, in a statement issued today, said that ever since CPDL has taken over the responsibility of electricity distribution in Chandigarh, problems for the common people have continuously increased. He alleged that the company, without considering public interest, has shifted the billing system to a monthly basis, whereas earlier bills were issued every two months. This has imposed an unnecessary financial burden on consumers and has directly benefited the company through advance payments.

Lucky further stated that there have been instances where electricity bills were issued twice within the same month, reflecting the company's disorganized and anti-consumer approach. He also alleged that the company is exploiting its employees. Several workers have lodged complaints with the Congress party, highlighting serious violations of service rules and disregard for regulations set by the administration.

He added that in recent days, several parts of the city experienced prolonged power outages, but the company failed to take timely and effective action, causing significant inconvenience to the public.

Lucky recalled that the Congress party had earlier opposed the privatization of the electricity department and had staged a continuous 10-day protest outside Nehru Park. At that time too, the party had warned that a private company was being given a backdoor entry with the support of the BJP, the consequences of which the citizens would have to bear in the future.

He further said that the recent decision to increase electricity tariffs by 2% annually, amounting to a total increase of 11% over five years, will impose an additional burden of inflation on the common people.

Lucky informed that a few days ago, a delegation of CPDL officials and spokespersons had met him at his residence, where he clearly raised all major concerns related to consumers and employees and strongly advised the company to improve its functioning.

Issuing a fresh warning today, Lucky stated that if the company does not take corrective measures immediately, the Congress party will demand strict action from the administration and will be compelled to launch a large-scale public agitation.

He concluded by stating that CPDL must move beyond a profit-driven approach and prioritize public welfare, ensuring relief to consumers and fair treatment of its employees.

NASH Rapidly Emerging a Significant Health Concern: Expert

Hoshiarpur, Mar.30, 2026:-Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH), an advanced and potentially life-threatening form of fatty liver disease, is rapidly emerging as a significant health concern in India. There are a growing number of cases, particularly among individuals with sedentary lifestyles and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Gastro & Liver Specialist at Livasa Hospital Hoshiarpur, said that NASH is often a silent disease that progresses unnoticed. By the time symptoms appear, significant liver damage may have already occurred. Early screening and timely lifestyle interventions are critical to preventing irreversible complications such as cirrhosis or liver failure.

NASH (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis) is an advanced stage of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), characterized by fat accumulation in the liver along with inflammation and liver cell damage. If left untreated, it can progress to fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver failure.

Dr Kumar said that the rising incidence of NASH is closely linked to obesity and excess body weight, Type 2 diabetes , high cholesterol and triglycerides , sedentary lifestyle , insulin resistance  and poor dietary habits.

Dr Kumar said that NASH often remains asymptomatic in early stages. As it progresses, patients may experience fatigue, abdominal discomfort, weakness, and weight loss. Advanced cases may show jaundice, abdominal swelling, anemia, and low platelets. Diagnosis includes blood tests, imaging (ultrasound, FibroScan), and in select cases MRI/CT or liver biopsy.

Talking about treatment & prevention, Dr Kumar said that while no single approved medication exists, NASH can be managed through weight loss (7–10%), a healthy diet, regular exercise, and control of diabetes and cholesterol.

Chandigarh, March 30, 2026:-Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group and a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, is currently undergoing medical treatment in the United States and is likely to undergo his third major heart surgery soon.

According to available information, Mr. Gupta had travelled to the U.S. for a routine medical check-up at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. However, following a detailed evaluation, doctors have advised a fresh cardiac procedure.

Sources indicate that the surgery is expected to take place this week. Post-surgery, Rajinder Gupta will remain in the U.S. for further recovery and medical supervision, with an anticipated recovery period of approximately three weeks, including hospitalization.

During this critical time, his family—including his wife, son, and daughter—are by his side. Additionally, the office of the Consulate General of India is in constant touch with the family, ensuring all necessary support and assistance.

Notably, this will be Rajinder Gupta's third heart surgery. He had previously undergone cardiac procedures in 2002 and 2009.

Paras Health Panchkula Pays Tribute to 83-Year-Old Organ Donor To Help Restore Vision For The Blind

Panchkula, Mar.29, 2026:- In a significant act of organ donation in Panchkula, the family of 83-year-old Satya Rani donated her eyes after her passing at Paras Health Panchkula. The decision was taken in accordance with her wishes and with the consent of her family, who had earlier pledged to donate organs and held an organ donor card.

Satya Rani, a resident of Panchkula, had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past one month for advanced-stage ovarian cancer that had spread to the abdominal lining (ovarian carcinoma with peritoneal metastasis). Following her demise, the hospital coordinated the eye donation process in accordance with standard medical protocols and in coordination with the eye bank team. The donation was carried out shortly after her demise to ensure the viability of the corneas, which will be used for corneal transplantation to help restore vision for patients suffering from corneal blindness.

Commenting on the case, Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Facility Director, Paras Health Panchkula, said that this noble gesture by the family of Mrs. Satya Rani is a powerful reminder of how one decision can change lives forever. Organ donation, especially eye donation, is one of the simplest yet most impactful ways to give the gift of life. It is heartening to see increasing awareness and willingness among citizens of Panchkula to come forward for such causes. The incident reflects a growing awareness and acceptance of organ and eye donation in Panchkula and the surrounding region, as healthcare institutions and awareness initiatives encourage more families to come forward for organ donation. Eye donation remains one of the most accessible forms of organ donation and can significantly improve the quality of life for visually impaired patients, provided timely consent and medical coordination are in place. Experts note that India requires nearly 100,000 corneal transplants every year, yet donations remain far below the demand. Additionally, an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 people develop corneal blindness annually, underscoring the urgent need for greater awareness and participation in eye donation. Eye donation in India is supported under the National Programme for Control of Blindness, which works to reduce avoidable blindness through corneal transplants and public awareness initiatives.

Hospital authorities stated that each eye donation can help restore vision for up to two corneal blind patients, highlighting the medical impact of corneal transplantation. Doctors also explained that eye donation must be carried out within a few hours of death, making timely consent and swift coordination between families, hospitals, and eye bank teams essential for a successful transplant.

Paras Health Panchkula expressed condolences to the bereaved family and stated that such decisions highlight how organ donation can help save or improve lives even after death. Healthcare professionals emphasised that continued public awareness and community participation remain essential to bridging the gap between the demand and availability of donor tissues in India.

IndiGo Strengthens Connectivity to and from Navi Mumbai and Gujarat

Chandigarh, Mar. 29, 2026:- IndiGo, India's preferred airline, is adding over 30 new routes from the Navi Mumbai International Airport between 29 March 2026 and 23 April 2026**, connecting the airport to cities like Agra, Ayodhya, Bagdogra, Belgaum, Chandigarh, Diu, Kannur, Kolkata, Patna, Rajkot, Srinagar, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam, and many more. Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma Treated Successfully at Livasa Hospital

Amritsar, Mar.28, 2026:- A 42-year-old woman diagnosed with early-stage Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma treated successfully at  Livasa Hospital, Amritsar recently.

The patient, with no prior medical history, presented with a swelling on the right side of her neck that persisted for nearly two months. Diagnostic investigations confirmed Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma (stage IIA–early stage favourable).

Dr. Amritjot Singh Randhawa, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Hemato-Oncologist at Livasa Hospital, Amritsar said that a detailed assessment, including PET-CT imaging, revealed localized disease—an early-stage presentation associated with a high probability of cure.

The patient demonstrated strong baseline fitness with normal cardiac function , ECG, pulmonary function, and negative viral markers, making her an ideal candidate for standard chemotherapy.

A personalized treatment plan was initiated, including the insertion of a chemo port for safe and comfortable administration of therapy.

The patient underwent three cycles of the standard ABVD chemotherapy regimen, supported by continuous monitoring and comprehensive supportive care.

A follow-up PET-CT scan demonstrated a Complete Metabolic Response, indicating no evidence of active disease. The patient has since resumed a healthy lifestyle and remains under routine follow-up.

Dr. Amritjot Singh Randhawa further said that cancer is no longer something to fear — it is something to treat wisely.

He said that with the right approach and timely care, complete recovery is achievable. Early-stage Hodgkin lymphoma, in particular, has excellent cure rates when managed appropriately.

A special event titled "An Evening Dedicated to the Elderly" was organized at Kartar Asra Ashram in Chandigarh, where a musical evening featuring popular songs from the golden era was presented for the residents of the ashram.

On this occasion, Dr. E. Rajendra Jaina shared that singing is his hobby, but through it, he also reflects on those who are left alone in the hustle of life. He emphasized that while many people provide clothes and food to the elderly living in old-age homes, their needs go far beyond that. The most important thing, he said, is to spend time with them, listen to their stories, understand their experiences, and bring joy into their lives. This thought inspired the organization of the event.

Mrs. Monica also expressed her happiness at being part of the program, saying that she felt deeply touched and learned a lot from the experience.

During the program, Dr. Rajendra Jaina performed several evergreen songs that were highly appreciated by the audience. Many elderly residents came forward to share their life experiences, lightening their hearts. Some sang songs, while several women even danced joyfully. She expressed her happiness, noting that Dr. Jaina brought immense joy to the elderly, making them sing and dance with visible happiness on their faces. She prayed to Waheguru for the successful completion of the film and hoped that its shooting would also take place in the ashram and the Gurudwara.

Film critic, creative film director, and senior journalist Suniel Parashar encouraged everyone to learn a new way of living. He suggested that just as people once adopted children, those without parents could consider adopting elderly individuals to complete their families.

Trident Group Commissions Additional 5.40 MWp Rooftop Solar Project at Its Budhni - Madhya Pradesh plant

Chandigarh, Mar. 27, 2026:-Trident Group, a leading diversified conglomerate with interests spanning textiles, paper, chemicals and energy,  has commissioned successfully an additional new 5.40 MWp rooftop solar power project at its Budhni manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh, taking the total installed solar capacity at the location to 57.32 MWp. reinforcing its commitment to sustainable growth while ensuring operational efficiency at scale. With this addition, the Budhni facility further strengthens its position as a key hub for Trident's renewable energy initiatives in central India.

The Budhni plant facility was previously operating with an installed solar capacity of 51.92 MWp, with 100 per cent utilization. The latest capacity addition has been completed as scheduled on March 27, 2026, the company said in a statement. The project entails an estimated investment of around ₹10 crore. The move is in line with the group's strategy to scale up renewable energy adoption across its manufacturing operations and lower its overall carbon footprint. The rooftop installation is expected to enhance energy efficiency while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.

Trident's continued investment in renewable energy reflects its unwavering focus on operational excellence, energy efficiency and responsible growth. The expansion underscores the Group's decade-long efforts to embed clean, green, and affordable energy solutions across its manufacturing ecosystem. IndiGo Expands International Network with New, Direct Flights between Delhi and Colombo

Commencing 29 March 2026, the airline will operate six flights every week on this route using its A320 aircraft, offering seamless and convenient travel options for customers.

माँ कमलीनन्द गिरी जी- अंतरराष्ट्रीय किन्नर अखाड़ा व जूना अखाड़ा की देखरेख में मंदिर परिसर में कंजक पूजन और 108 कलश के जल से माता का अभिषेक किया गया। 

  

परमपूज्यपाद जय माता मंदिर पीठाधीश्वर श्री श्री 1008 महामण्डलेश्वर माँ कमलीनन्द गिरी जी महाराज ने बताया कि मंदिर में नवरात्र का पर्व बड़े ही श्रद्धाभाव और भक्तिभाव से मनाया गया। मंदिर में नौ दिन माता के नौ स्वरूपों की मंदिर के 09 पुजारियों द्वारा श्रद्धाभाव से पूजा अर्चना की गई। उन्होंने बताया कि नवरात्र के दौरान रामनवमी अवसर पर 151 कन्याओं एवम लगभग 50 बालकों का पूजन किया गया। इसके अलावा सभी को आशीर्वाद भी दिया गया है। नौ दिन माता की पूजा अर्चना की गई है। आज रामनवमी अवसर पर हवन यज्ञ, माता की आरती, 09 पंडित पूजन सहित कंजक पूजन किया गया ।

मेयर सौरभ जोशी ने कहा कि कन्याओं को मां दुर्गा के विभिन्न रूपों का प्रतीक मानकर पूजा जाता है, जिससे घर में सुख-समृद्धि आती है और नकारात्मकता दूर होती है।उन्होंने बताया कि कन्याओं के चरण धोकर उन्हें आसन पर बैठाया जाता है, कलाई पर मौली बांधी जाती है और माथे पर तिलक लगाया जाता है। इसके बाद कन्याओं को आदरपूर्वक हलवा, पूरी और चने का भोजन कराया जाता है। इसके बाद उन्हें सामर्थ्य अनुसार दक्षिणा, फल और उपहार दिए जाते हैं। उन्होंने समाज से कंजक पूजन कर कन्या भ्रूण हत्या रोकने के लिए लोगों को प्रेरित किया।

ओंकार चैरिटेबल फाउंडेशन चंडीगढ़ के चेयरमैन रविंदर सिंह बिल्ला जी ने युवा वर्ग से आग्रह किया कि कंजक पूजन का तभी लाभ मिलेगा अगर हम जन्म से पूर्व ही कन्या को कत्ल नहीं करेंगे। उन्होंने कन्या को बोझ मानने वाले समाज से आग्रह किया कि अगर बेटी की हत्या करोगे तो बेटा कहां से लाओगे। आओ प्रण करें कि सब मिल कर भ्रूण हत्या जैसी सामाजिक कुरीति को जड़ से उखाड़ फेंके।

अरुण अग्रवाल ने आगे कहा कि भोले बाबा के आशीर्वाद से कमेटी की तरफ से प्रत्येक शनिवार नामदेव भवन के आगे लंगर लगाया जाता है। हालांकि पहले ये हर महीने के दूसरे शनिवार को ही लगाया जाता था, लेकिन जरूरतमंद और राहगीरों की सुविधा हेतु अब यह हर शनिवार लगाया जा रहा है। जब तक प्रभु की असीम अनुकंपा बनी रहेगी, भंडारा जारी रहेगा।

Chandigarh, Mar.25, 2026:-श्री रामनवमी के पावन अवसर पर मंदिर सभा की ओर से श्री सनातन धर्म मंदिर, सेक्टर-46, चंडीगढ़ में तीन दिवसीय श्री राम कथा एवं भजन संध्या का आयोजन किया जा रहा है। यह धार्मिक कार्यक्रम प्रतिदिन शाम 7:00 बजे से 9:00 बजे तक आयोजित होगा, जिसमें श्रद्धालु बड़ी संख्या में भाग लेकर भगवान श्रीराम की महिमा का श्रवण कर रहे हैं।

कथा वाचन आचार्य राहुल गोदियाल द्वारा किया जा रहा है। कथा के दौरान उन्होंने भगवान श्रीराम के जीवन से जुड़े कई महत्वपूर्ण प्रसंगों का विस्तार से वर्णन किया।

आचार्य राहुल गोदियाल ने बताया कि दंडक वन में भगवान श्रीराम की भगवान शिव और माता पार्वती से भेंट का प्रसंग अत्यंत रोचक और शिक्षाप्रद है। इस प्रसंग में माता पार्वती ने माता सीता का रूप धारण कर भगवान श्रीराम की परीक्षा लेने का प्रयास किया। भगवान श्रीराम ने उन्हें तुरंत पहचान लिया, जिससे माता पार्वती को अपनी भूल का एहसास हुआ।

कथा में आगे सती माता के देह त्याग, उसके बाद माता पार्वती के पुनर्जन्म, उनकी कठोर तपस्या और अंततः भगवान शिव की प्राप्ति के प्रसंग का भी भावपूर्ण वर्णन किया गया, जिसे सुनकर उपस्थित श्रद्धालु भावविभोर हो गए।

मेसर्स चुन्नी लाल मोहन लाल के ओनर नरेश महाजन ने फ्रंटियर बिसकिट्स द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई फ्रेंचाइजी से उत्साहित होकर बताया कि चंडीगढ़ की एक प्रसिद्ध पंसारी की दुकान मैसर्स सीएम सुपर मार्केट है। नरेश महाजन ने कहा कि स्टोर की स्थापना 1965 में संस्थापक चुनीलाल और मोहन लाल द्वारा की गई थी। दुकान आयुर्वेदिक दवाओं में से निपटने के लिए अच्छी तरह से जाना जाता है और दशकों में स्थानीय लोगों के बीच एक मजबूत प्रतिष्ठा अर्जित की है। यह परंपरागत हर्बल उत्पादों के साथ ग्राहकों की सेवा जारी रखे हुए है, जो शहर में अपनी दीर्घकालिक विरासत को बनाए रखे हुए है।

Chandigarh, Mar.25, 2026:-मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के क्षेत्र में स्वर्गीय प्रो. बी.एस. चवन द्वारा किए गए कार्यों को स्मरण करते हुए, एनजीओ 'परिवर्तन' ने मेन्टल हेल्थ इंस्टिट्यूट एंड डिपार्टमेंट ऑफ साइकाइट्री, जीएमसीएच-32, चंडीगढ़ के सहयोग से जीएमसीएच-32 में "डॉ. बी.एस. चवन मेमोरियल रिहैबिलिटेशन प्रोग्राम" का आयोजन किया। इस अवसर पर जीएमसीएच-32, चंडीगढ़ की डायरेक्टर-प्रिंसीपल प्रो. रवनीत कौर मुख्य अतिथि रहीं।

कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत साइकाइट्री विभाग, जीएमसीएच-32 के एचओडी डॉ. अजीत सिदाना के स्वागत भाषण से हुई। डॉ. सिदाना ने उपस्थित लोगों को डॉ. चवन द्वारा शुरू किए गए अनोखे पब्लिक-प्राइवेट पार्टनरशिप (पीपीपी) मॉडल के बारे में जानकारी दी और बताया कि 'परिवर्तन' तब से साइकाइट्री विभाग और मेन्टल हेल्थ इंस्टीट्यूट के साथ मिलकर मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के क्षेत्र में विशेष सेवाएं प्रदान कर रहा है। उन्होंने यह भी बताया कि 'परिवर्तन' समान विचारधारा वाले एनजीओ, डिस्ट्रिक्ट लीगल सर्विसेज, विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों और सोशल वेलफेयर विभाग के साथ मिलकर मानसिक रूप से बीमार व्यक्तियों और उनके देखभालकर्ताओं के जीवन में स्थायी बदलाव लाने का कार्य कर रहा है।

प्रो. कौर ने डॉ. बी.एस. चवन के जीवन और कार्यों पर प्रकाश डाला और बताया कि वे राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर मानसिक स्वास्थ्य के क्षेत्र में नवाचार सेवाएं शुरू करने वाले अग्रदूत के रूप में जाने जाते थे।

कार्यक्रम के दौरान वर्ष 2026 के लिए 'डॉ. बी.एस. चवन मेमोरियल अवॉर्ड' चेन्नई स्थित एनजीओ 'द बनयान' को भारत में पुनर्वास और सामुदायिक मनोचिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट कार्य के लिए प्रदान किया गया। 'द बनयान' के डायरेक्टर डॉ. के.वी. किशोर कुमार ने अपनी उपस्थिति से कार्यक्रम की शोभा बढ़ाई और "बेघर मानसिक रूप से बीमार लोगों के लिए बनयान मॉडल ऑफ केयर" विषय पर अपने विचार साझा किए।

कार्यक्रम के अंत में 'परिवर्तन' की महासचिव डॉ. शिखा त्यागी ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापन प्रस्तुत किया। इस कार्यक्रम में मानसिक रूप से बीमार व्यक्ति, उनके देखभालकर्ता और मानसिक स्वास्थ्य विशेषज्ञों सहित कुल 160 लोगों ने भाग लिया।
