SLSA organizes Nayi Dishayein (New Horizons), a Campaign for Vulnerable Sections of the Society

Chandigarh have launched a campaign for vulnerable sections of the society i.e. women, children, senior citizens and workers working in the unorganized sector namely "Nayi Dishayein" (New Horizons) from 17th December to 23rd December 2021 at Village Faidan, Chandigarh, by involving maximum Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, Law students, etc. as per the mandates of the schemes launched by NALSA. The panel advocates have also been deputed to monitor the campaign. The Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and law students, students from Center for Human rights and duties, Punjab university, Chandigarh etc. are conducting a door-to- door survey in village Faidan, Chandigarh in the aforesaid campaign and apprising  the residents of Village Faidan about various poverty alleviation schemes launched by Central Government and Chandigarh Administration. They are also helping the eligible beneficiaries in availing the benefits of poverty alleviation schemes, i.e. old age pension, widow pension, disability benefits scheme, etc. by getting filled their forms and submissions before the concerned Authorities/Departments. The PLVs and law students, etc. during the campaign are also collecting the data regarding number of Anganwadi Centers and facilities provided therein, Creches, Medical Centers/ Dispensaries, Senior Citizens Home in the village Faidan. They are also collecting data regarding senior citizens, construction workers, children who require tuition/coaching classes. The visiting PLVs, law students, students from Center for Human rights and duties ,etc. They are further collecting data regarding the income of the head of the family, working capacity of women, preparation of cards (Labour Cards) of construction workers etc. in the campaign.

On 19 December.2021 Her lordship Hon'ble Justice Ritu Bahri, Judge Punjab and Haryana High Court Chandigarh and Executive Chairperson State Legal Services Authority, UT., Chandigarh also visited the Faidan village and met the Plvs , students and local residents and heard their problems with regard to sanitation, medical facilities, education and need of direct access to the village from Chandigarh . Her lordship pointed out that the concerned departments need to take an active stand in redressing their grievances. 

The campaign was also attended by Surender Kumar, Member Secretary, State legal services Authority, UT Chandigarh. He also motivated the Plv s and students to take active interest in collecting the required Data of residents of the village so that their problem can be redressed in a proper and effective manner. He also appraised the gathering that the object of the campaign is to make the lives of residents better so as to ensure complete access to justice to the deprived sections of the society.
