Chandigarh Nov. 16, 2021:- The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised an online awareness session on the topic 'Basics of Intellectual Property Rights and Technology Transfer'. The resource person was Ms. Disha Sharma, Innovation Ambassador- IPRs and Technology Transfer, MCM IIC. More than 100 participants attended the session that apprised them about the need and benefits of using Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) namely copyrights, trade secrets, patents, trademarks, and industrial designs. Some interesting examples of well-established companies were discussed to acquaint the students with the difference between various forms of IPRs. The concept of technology transfer was also elaborated by the speaker during the session. The session equipped the students with the nuances of IPRs and technology transfer. The students found the session very interesting and informative.
Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava appreciated the efforts of the college's IIC directed at inculcating culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among the students through such initiatives. She added that these efforts will surely lay the foundation of a self-reliant India.
