Chandigarh, June 29, 2021:- Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) released its research report for the year 2018-19 and 2019-2020. The report was released by Honorable Sh. Dharam Pal. IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh. Commission has undertaken a total of 15 research reports for the 2 consecutive years on the various topics on the theme of child development and child protection. The topics ranged from aggression among adolescent, drug abuse, sexual abuse, rights of younger sportspersons, inclusive classroom, social safety nets, rights to health, child domestic workers, and facilities for differently abled.
While speaking on the occasion, Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh said that he appreciate the good work done by CCPCR. He would like to create a unique model in this area through his expertise.
The outcomes of the research "Arts based therapy for children in Snehalaya : Changes in school participation, expression of anger and group cohesive " by Harsuchetan Kaur highlights that healthy therapeutic bond between children and therapist which lead to improved participation in school, lesser expressive anger in children as punishment and judgement were discouraged during the session along with increased group harmony among participating students.
Another study "Combating Drop outs, gangsterism and drug use in Chandigarh Govt. School by Sh. S.P. Singh. Bhalla" highlights that parental negligence is one of the major reasons for dropouts, drug abuse and gangsterism among school children.
Speaking on the occasion Harjinder kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR said that the purpose of documenting research with an action plan is that the advantage of this research work will reach to the most vulnerable section of the child through actions. Keeping in view the pandemic situation, primarily the study on the health risk health risk behavior will benefit teachers, parents and schools in developing a holistic framework. She also thanked Dr Monica and Pooja Punchhi, Members CCPCR, present at the launch ceremony, for their whole hearted support for the research report documentation.
