Chandigarh May 11, 2020:-Budh Purnima & Birthday of Shri Rabindranath Tagore Celebrated at Desh Bhagat University
Amidst COVID-19, when most of the schools and colleges around the world are closed due to lockdown and people are not spending their time outside, Literary Club and Sarv Shreshth Bharat Club of Desh Bhagat University celebrated Budh Purnima and 159th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in a unique fashion by organizing an online webinar where participants shared their views and discuss the teachings of Mahatma Budha and literature masterpieces of Rabindranath Tagore.
Budha Purnima is also known as 'Vesak Day' and is a sacred occasion for disciples of Budha around the world.
Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor Desh Bhagat University, extended his wishes to all and enlightened the audience on the ideologies of Mahatma Budha. He Said "Mahatma Budha is considered as one of the greatest spiritual leaders. He gave up all sort of worldly pleasures and materialistic possessions in order to find truth of life. After years of meditation, he became enlightened and began preaching the philosophy of life. It is believed that by following his principles we can get rid of sufferings in life. He added that this year we cannot celebrate this sacred occasion together due to the corona virus lockdown but can offer prayers to Budha at home, read about the teachings of Budha and meditate.
A poem recitation event was also organized by School of Education in which more than 3150 staff members and students participated through online portal and recited famous poems of Shri Rabindranath Tagore.
