Chandigarh April 04, 2020:-The spread of CoronaVirus (COVID-19), the 21 days lockdown and curfew in Punjab could not stop the learning process of the students of Desh Bhagat University, located at Amloh road, Mandi Gobindgarh. The university has been able to successfully incorporate online learning for all the courses.
The Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh told that needless to say, that safety of our students as our top priority, and at the same time giving due importance to their studies and development, the team of Desh Bhagat University will use all digital platforms and resources like EPG-pathshala, SWAYAM , National Digital Library etc; give online assignments and conduct tests as well; and provide PDF's of important books and lectures to students. He said that we are here to keep a close watch on the developments, take decisions accordingly and intimate change of plan if any.
The Pro- Chancellor, Dr. Tajinder Kaur, told that adoption of tech-led holistic approach by DBU has helped to tide over the challenge and kept the classes going without any halt.
Dr. Virender Singh, Advisor to Chancellor, quoted that Desh Bhagat University has made huge efforts in training people, in content generation and access to e-learning technology. He further said that, everyday, more than 500 virtual classes are happening at different schools of DBU viz., School of Engineering, School of Law, School of Management, School of Computer Science, School of Ayurveda, School of Pharmacy, School of Education, and School of Dental Science etc.
Vice Chancellor, Prof.(Dr.) Shalini Gupta told that the faculty of the university have prepared e-content and sharing the same with the students, from their homes. The faculty of all the departments are already trained, under faculty Development Program (FDP), to efficiently conduct virtual classrooms and share the contents and study material vide audio lectures, video conferencing, powerpoint slides by google classroom and various applications like Kahoot, Webinar, Zoom and Whatsapp and various virtual classroom tools.
Prof.(Dr.) J.S.Bhatia, Director, observed that attendance of students in virtual classrooms is improving. He added that this anytime, anywhere experience is possible only in virtual classrooms.
