Chandigarh 22nd March:- District Level Committee held a meeting today to monitor SSA/RMSA/MDM under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament, Mrs. Kirron Kher. The meeting was attended by Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Dy. Commissioner, Chandigarh Administration, Chairman, Zila Parishad, Chandigarh Administration, Director School Education, Chandigarh Administration, Dy. Director-cum-Deputy State Project Director, SSA, Chandigarh Administration, Dy. Director-cum-Deputy State Project Director, RMSA, Chandigarh Administration, District Education Officer, Chandigarh Administration , Medical Officer Health, Sector-17, Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Chandigarh, District Food and Supplies Officer, Chandigarh, Pramod Sharma, Coordinator, Yuvsatta,
Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education presented achievements under SSA, RMSA and MDM during the financial year 2015-16, which were appreciated by the members of the committee.
Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament raised the concern regarding shortage of Primary Schools in Dhanas area, shortage of number of classrooms in Government Middle School Palsora Colony and Government High School Sarangpur. She also suggested roping in "Iskcon" in the field of MDM Scheme through Akshaya Patra Foundation. She also showed concern on the functioning of unrecognised schools and the future of the students studying in these schools, if these schools are closed.
Arun Sood, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh raised the issue of the old eucalyptus trees in schools as these old trees are a constant threat to the safety of children of the school and neighbourhood residents. He also raised the issue of 7 Primary Schools under Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. He also suggested that it should be ensured the playgrounds of all the Government Schools be made available to neighbourhood children to play after school hours.
Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh Administration raised the issue of proper care of CWSN children. He showed concern on the high dropout rate at Secondary level and suggested to track the dropout children. He also stressed the admission of EWS as per RTE Act and land allotment scheme.
It was also decided that a review meeting will be held within next 3 months.
