Chandigarh 22nd January:- Vijay Dev, Adviser to Administrator today inaugurated first e-sampark service centre at post office, Sector- 14, Panjab Univeristy, Chandigarh where citizens can avail e-sampark services from 9 am to 4:30 pm. To launch this facility, Department of Information Technology has put in lots of efforts during the past 2 months along with the officials of Department of Posts and has identified 7 more post offices i.e. Sector-8, Sector-9, Sector-26, Sector-29, Sector-30, Sector-31 & Sector-44 where e-sampark services will be started by 31st January, 2016.
Before inauguration, an MoU was signed by Prince Dhawan, Director Information Technology on behalf of Department of IT and Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, Director Postal Services Chandigarh & Punjab on behalf of Department of Post before the inauguration in the presence of Vijay Dev, Adviser to Administrator and Deepak Kumar, Secretary Information Technology, Chandigarh Administration. Department of Information Technology will be state designated agency who will be responsible for implementation and management of the Scheme. This tie-up will further expand & strengthen the existing public service delivery system of Chandigarh and will help in utilizing the infrastructure of post offices which is available at every strategic location of the city being used by the residents for postal & financial services.
The Department of post will provide the required IT infrastructure, space and dedicated window at post office along with manpower in the post offices and will gradually offer all CSC, G2C, B2C and B2B services which are being offered through 16 e-sampark centers, 11 e-Sampark kiosks & 14 Gram-Sampark Centres. The uniqueness of converting post office to CSE will allow UT administration to utilize the existing infrastructure of post offices which will significantly bring the operational cost low in delivering public services.
Deepak Kumar, Secretary Information Technology said that our objective is to make all public services accessible to the residents in their locality, through most accessible government channels, and ensure efficiency, transparency and reliability of such services.
Prince Dhawan, Director Information Technology said that we are making sustained efforts at multiple levels to improve the delivery of public services by outreaching to populace through post office which is an another convenient touch point for government to interface directly with citizens not having access to internet or other smart devices.
