Mohali 08th July:--  Indo Global Colleges organised project making competition under the banner of 'Design & Build' for the budding engineers. Students in groups submitted their project plans then accomplished the projects under the guidance of Mechanical Department Head Anil Bharti. More than 50 projects were presented in the competition by the various groups of students out of which 4 projects were selected as winners.

Harpal Singh, Iqbal, Gurtej, Dilip Kumar and Anada Gorai students from 5th Semester,Mechanical Engineering prepared Auto Assist Night turning beam which bagged   first prize. The main features of this project are to help the car drivers to negotiate turns during night driving. As cars throw light only in a straight direction which gives the driver no idea of what is on his left or right side of the road during a dark night, especially when negotiating a turn. The auto assist turning beam senses steering turning radius and turns the light rays in the direction which the driver intends to turn.  Second winner Shiti Rana, Sourabh Sharma and Vikas Pandey further extends the capability of the drilling machines by facilitating to drill square holes in metal plates. Conventional drilling machines drill circular holes of various sizes only.

Continuously variable transmission in a Bike project got third prize made by the 7th semester students Mohit Sharma, Sandeep Gupta, Dhruv mahajan and Anand Kumar. Under this project existing manual gear replaced with shift mechanism with automatic variable transmission system. The torque convertor senses the required torque at a given rpm and automatically shifts gears accordingly.Currently such bikes are not available in the market. Fourth winning  project was tree plantation machine made by 7th Semester students Hanspal Singh, Parminder Singh, Prabjot Singh and Sukhwinder Singh which helps in digging pits during mass tree plantation .

Speaking on the occasion Chairman Sukhdev Kumar Singla said that Such project competitions provide motivation and incentive to the students to create functional products with set constraints within a limited time period thereby making them competitive .Besides this engineering disciplines and a good team spirit develops in them, instilling a discipline of working together is same as they would perform in real industries after taking up jobs after getting their Degrees.
