Chandigarh 05th April:-- The British School, Chandigarh, organised an orientation meet for parents to introduce them to the new academic session. The event was quite informative and saw parents interacting with teachers. The programme was held for parents whose children are studying in Classes IVth till Xth. The get-together also was the parents’ first acquaintance with teachers of their children. The meet played a key role in familiarizing parents with the syllabus and academic content which would be followed in the ensuing class session of their wards. It gave parents an opportunity to know what is expected in the coming year and equip themselves for it. Parents were also explained the pattern for conduct of examinations.
Teachers at the orientation meet informed that a child spends 16 hours at home in addition to the holidays, therefore the child's education and grooming also continues at home. Parents were counseled to encourage children to read books and newspapers as this will go a long way in developing good communication skills and language skills. Parents were told that children could be involved in day to day discussions at home to update their knowledge on current affairs and general knowledge. These conversations can even be held during dinner time at a dining table. All in all the session was very enriching.
