Gandhi Jayanti Celebrated at Ashmah International School

Mohali 01st October:-----  Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour at Ashmah International School,Sector 70, Mohali  today. The purpose behind the celebration was to inculcate spirit of peace, love and brotherhood among students. Students ensured their active participation in the function. Students were dressed in Khadi to show their participation and enthusiasm to mark the Gandhian spirit of non–violence and truth.

Three monkeys of Gandhi Ji "Bura mat dekho, bura mat bolo, bura mat suno"were the main attraction at the moment. The purpose behind the celebration was to inculcate spirit of peace, love and goodwill among students. Students delivered speeches and recited poems highlighting Mahatma Gandhi's principles.  Dandi march and Quit India Movement staged by the students stole the show. A play on Gandhi Ji's life was also performed by the students, whereas dance on the tunes of "Jai Ho" was also showcased by tiny tots. At the last the song "Vaishnav Jan ko" was also sung by students to pay him tribute. Principal Ms. Roopinder Ghuman guided the students to follow the path of non-violence and truth.

Director of the school,  J.S. Kesar appreciated the great efforts of the young learners and add that Bapu ji was a selfless leader and suffered many hardships for the freedom of our country. He was sent to jail many a times, but he suffered all this for the sake of the country. He believed in the social equality. He was deadly against untouchability.He further added that he is loved by all his countrymen. Respectfully we call him Bapu or the Father of the Nation. Tributes were also paid to late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, whose birth anniversary also falls on this day. The students also took a pledge to follow the principles of non-violence and truth as advocated by Gandhi ji.
