Chandigarh October 10, 2020:- Mental Health Awareness Week was organized by the Department of Psychology in GGSCW Sec-26, Chandigarh. As a deleterious effect of worldwide pandemic the event was conducted virtually to spread awareness on mental health. Various activities, planned and coordinated by Dr. Savneet from Department of Psychology, were focused towards providing relaxation and self-realization to participants as they are coping with hectic schedule of the ongoing online classes. Activities included: A letter to Self, Self Care Bingo, Bucket List, Photography, Stone Painting and Self Compassion Journal, were aimed to spread awareness on mental health and encourage the students to come forward with open mind to understand the importance of mental health and develop positivity among them. Letter to the self was written by the students to understand themselves in a better and compassionate way. Self-care bingo was about checking out all the activities they had performed on the day to day basis and the bucket list was about the activities which they had already done in their life and also some of the dreams which they would like to fulfill in their future. Photographs were clicked by the participants' which expressed their mental state. The therapeutic activity of Stone painting helped the students to relax. Self compassion JOURNAL activity accomplished Self-introspection. The efforts of the department and students were appreciated by the Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur.
