Chandigarh 01st January:- Fortis Hospital, Mohali is the first ones to use 'Remote Fetal Monitoring' technique in Punjab and north of Delhi, in which a pregnant woman can now not only monitor herself and the baby in the womb, but also send analogues to the doctor's phone through a mobile application. Dr Preeti Jindal, Senior Consultant, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Fortis Hospital, Mohali said, they are the first ones to use such technique in Punjab and north of Delhi. We used this technique in two high-risk cases, out of which one was a full term and a safe delivery. This could not have happened without the RFM technique.
Explaining, more about the technique Dr Jindal added that with the help of this technique, we have delivered full term baby weighing 2.8 kg, which was not possible without complete indoor hospital admission, which would have been extended atleast for three weeks. It not only saves money of the patients, but also decreases the stress. Through this technology many patients could monitor themselves and the doctor could see their vitals on the phone, since this is a small portable device.
Chandigarh resident Patient who delivered a full-term baby recently, said, that listening to your own baby's heartbeat inside the womb has been a wonderful experience for all of us in the family. It has actually helped me a lot, as mine was a high-risk pregnancy. This technology is indeed a blessing as it helped us not only avoid frequent trips to the hospital, but also the mental stress associated with high-risk pregnancy.
