Kisaan Hut proving to be a boon for farmers

Mohali 01st January:-The Punjab Government has opened 'Kisaan Hut' under the AATMA scheme, so as to enable farmers of the state to process their produce like- milk, curd, lassi, paneer, honey and organic vegetables and directly market them. This process is instrumental in ensuring the farmers getting the appropriate price for their products and also the consumers getting quality products on subsidized rates.

Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the first AATMA KISAAN HUT opened at tehsil complex kharar with the help of Agriculture Department is proving a boon for both the farmers and the consumers. He also said that the Agriculture Department is providing technical know-how to the farmers to come out of the traditional crop cycle of wheat and paddy and adopt crop diversification and cultivate profitable crops. He said that crop diversification is the need of the hour for the farmers to strengthen their economic base because the traditional crop cycle is no longer a sound financial venture. He also informed that sooner, more such AATMA KISAAN HUTS will be opened and a mobile version shall also be made operational. Í

He said that now the farmers don't have to go to far off places to sell their products and also that the Kisaan Hut is opening many avenues of employment  for the farming families of the district. He also conveyed that this kisaan hut is being run with the assistance of sukhjiwan self help group where apart from pickles, lassi, pure desi ghee, butter, organic pulses- fresh green vegetables are also sold.
