Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan: Banwari Lal Purohit Flag Off and Unveils Nasha Mukti Express and NISHTHA Booklet

Chandigarh, April 05, 2023:-To propel the campaign of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration and Chandigarh Police unveiled the NISHTHA Booklet, a compendium of the efforts of the Chandigarh Administration towards making Chandigarh a drug-free city, and flagged off the Nasha Mukti Express for its tour from the Punjab Bhawan on 5th April 2023.
 
The Flag Off and Unveiling Ceremonies were conducted at 11:00 AM, wherein the  Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh, Banwari Lal Purohit, gave the green flag for initiating the tour of the Nasha Mukti Express and unveiled the NISHTHA Booklet. The ceremony was carried out in the presence of Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh and Praveer Ranjan, IPS, Director General of Police, Chandigarh. They reflected their heartiest greetings and compliments to the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration, for such initiatives. They encouraged the people to educate their peers and children against drugs and work together towards a drug-free India.
 
The Nasha Mukti Express shall tour the city and be stationed at strategic locations to attract citizens. The inside and the outside of the vehicle have been garnered with attractive designs that aim to inform the citizens about the ill effects of substance abuse, signs of addiction to watch out for, and how to seek help. The inside of the bus offers an immersive experience guiding the boarders on a journey of addiction to recovery. A dedicated team of police personnel has been deputed on board the vehicle to offer assistance and information about resources to those seeking help for overcoming their addiction.
 
The NISHTHA booklet shall be placed as a coffee table booklet in all government offices and be published online as well. It showcases the efforts of the Chandigarh Administration towards 'Drug Demand Reduction' in the city to completely subside the demand, consequently cutting off the supply and moving towards a path of drug de-addiction. It highlights training activities.
 
The Nasha Mukti Express and the NISHTHA Booklet are designed to educate the public, and with the help of intensive Social Media usage, people are being motivated to join the Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign. The National De-addiction Tollfree Helpline (14446), phone number for Narcotics Control Bureau (+91-9417773344) and Anti-Drug Police Department WhatsApp Number (+91-7087239010) are being highly promoted through the Express and the booklet, including the contact information of De-addiction Centres, so that people may easily reach out and seek the help they need.
