Pre Monsoon Showers Bare Haryana Govt's Rains Ready Claims:Kiran Choudhry

By 121 News

Chandigarh 21st June:-Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party, has flayed the BJP  Government, led by the Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, for its failure to get the drains de-silted and the administration in the districts geared up for the onset of the monsoon. She said that the sharp pre-monsoon showers that lashed parts of the state, especially Gurgaon, Hisar and Bhiwani, had spelled chaos and resulted in knee-deep water in many localities, laying bare all claims of the government on being rains-ready.

In a statement issued here today, the former excise and taxation minister said it showed that the orders on de-silting of drains were yet to be implemented; the administration had been sleeping over them, and was far from being prepared to face the rains. A good spell of pre-monsoon showers in Hisar exposed the poor drainage system, for, several localities, including the Civil Hospital, bus-stand and the main markets, got submerged, exposing the poor state of the civic infrastructure.

She pointed out that at the Civil Hospital in Hisar, patients and visitors had a tough wading through knee-deep water. The bus-stand, auto market, wholesale market, grain market, urban estate, police lines and several other localities were inundated.

Similarly, it was total chaos in Gurgaon after two hours of rainfall. All key roads were waterlogged and even posh colonies such as DLF and Sushant Lok were inundated. The Gurgaon Expressway came to a virtual halt with people stranded inside their vehicles and water logging in posh localities on the Golf Course Road and DLF area kept people locked inside their homes. The situation in Bhiwani was worse.

Kiran Choudhry said that last year, the authorities had promised the people a trouble-free monsoon this year. But the promise has fallen flat like most made by the BJP Government in the state. She demanded that the BJP Government would do well to swing into action and get its own orders on de-silting of drains all over the state implemented fast and get the set-up in the districts geared up to face the monsoon.
