Chandigarh 19th December:- Students of Chitkara International School avidly showcased their blistering performance in their 7th Annual Function: OSCARS Pageantry at Chitkara. Taking forward their legacy of ingenious and resourceful theme based Annual Function, the students of the school celebrated 6 day long annual jamboree "The OSCARS pageantry" with fortifying, splendid and exhilarating performances at the Coliseum Theatre (Auditorium) with huge pomp and show cheek by jowl showcasing special cinematic effects replicating the Hollywood's Oscars in the best possible way.
Around 1300 students exhibited alluring and glitzy performances according to the nomination of their respective category. Various films were nominated for different categories, out of which the best film was merited with an Oscar. The students eventually showcased their magnificent performances on the Oscar winning films. They were rendered a platform to display their artistic, creative and intramural calibre to strike and deliver nonpareil acts by also carving a distinctive learning edge to it due to excessive research and rigorous practice. The spectacular show was revered and commenced by the arrival of honourable chairperson of the institution Dr. Madhu Chitkara, venerated Principal Dr. Niyati Chitkara. They all consented to grace the occasion and adulate the young capacitors.
To keep the luminescence and splendour of the show rolling, a special script was constructed and exhibited where the students impersonated various Hollywood characters replicating their attire and voice as well. Characters like Jack Sparrow, Minion, Will Smith, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts were the exponents. A chucklesome twist was sprinkled by Indian characters P.K and Walia, their arrival made the audience convulsed with laughter.
The crowing feature of all the 6 days was the illuminating TRON act which was depicted to the audience under the unique effects of LED lights. The candy-floss and vibrant blue and white LED lights were framed on students' bodywork which set the stage radiant amidst the set darkness. Being derived from the word ElecTRONica which was a night time event at Disney California Adventure, the TRON dance is inclusive of intricate programming for the working of LED set up. But, Chitkarians commendably managed, controlled and programmed everything manually, which made the act distinct, novel and magnificent. The entire TRON act was the culmination of the team's effort and ideas.
Day one marked the beautiful and pretty performances by the tiny-tots on the tunes of Minions (Best Animation), Harry Potter (Best Costume), Charlie Chaplin (Old Classic), Men in Black (Best Movie) and Pretty Woman (Best Actress). Their innocence, efforts, amusing bows and bends and priceless smiles were undoubtedly captivating. Day two also belonged to the little geniuses depicting adorable acts on melodies of The Mummy (Best Costume), My fair lady (Make up and hair), High School (Best Choreography) and Lord of the Rings (Best Movie). The toddlers enacted with the same fervour and enthusiasm which inspired the seniors as well. Day three was an eyewitness to astounding performances depicting Best Costume through Devil Wears Prada, Best Movie through Gravity, and Best Director through The Mask.
The depiction of mesmeric acts through the exhibition of Best Documentary through Hoop Dreams, Best Costume through Pirates of the Carribean, Best Production Design through The Great Gatsby, Best Visual effects through Tomb's Raidor, Best Actress through I know what you did last Summer and Best Actor through Bruce Almighty were the cardinal pointers of Day four.
As the days rolled on, the grandeur of the show did not fail to magnetize and spellbind the audience. Day 5 was a looker-on of enrapturing and fascinating performances. The Best Choreography was highlighted through Foot loose, Best Visual Effects were underlined through King Kong, Best Director was depicted through Star Wars, Best Costume design was highlighted in Alice in the Wonderland and Best Actor was featured through Time Machine. The pomp and pageantry of the show maximized everything and rooted everyone to the spot. The debonair Black Swan, the gallant Avatar, a beautiful tribute to Paul Walker, the suave Titanic and the adventurous Mission Impossible were the crowd-pleasers of day 6. The day culminated with unsurpassable acts to be treasured in the pages of CIS diaries.
The Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony witnessed grinning-with-pride faces of both parents and their wards who were appreciated by the school for their elevated accomplishments in the field of academics, co-curricular activities and sports.
The six day talent celebration aptly viewed its closing as the Principal, Dr. Niyati Chitkara expressed her gratitude to the parents for rendering their precious time. A special vote of thanks was also delivered by the students by paying reverence to the team work, efforts and endurance of each and everyone who speared a forbearing harpoon to make this event a success story.
