Chandigarh Police organizes Debate Competition on Topic of “Is Capital Punishment Required in India”

Chandigarh 19th December:-A Debate competition on the topic of "Is Capital punishment required in India" has been organized by Chandigarh Police at Recruit Training Centre, Police Lines, Sector-26, Chandigarh. 27 Police personnel (Inspectors, SIs, ASIs, HCs & Constables) from various units of Chandigarh Police participated in this debate. 250 police personnel attended this function. Insp. Parvesh Sharma, I/C PEB Branch and HC Sushma Mehla of RTC stood 1st, Const. Yogesh Kumar of RTC stood 2nd and Insp Ram Dayal, SHO-Police Station-36 and ASI Chander Mukhi of Police Station-26 stood 3rd in this debate competition.

Dr. Sukhchain Singh Gill, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police,UT Chandigarh was the chief guest of this function. He shared his valuable experiences with the police personnel and appreciated the initiative taken by the Chandigarh Police in this regard. He motivated them to come forward for expressing their views to make these type of debate competitions a big success in future also. Dr. Navdeep Singh Brar, IPS, ASP, South, UT Chandigarh, O.P. Sadana, Joint Registrar, Punjab State Human Rights Commission and S.C. Sagar, Dy.SP (Retd.) were the Jury members of the debate competition. They adjudged the performance of the participants. All Jury members also shared their views with the police personnel. B.S. Negi, CPS, Dy.SP/Headquarter, Training & Lines was the convener of this function. He welcomed the chief guest and gave vote of thanks. This debate competition was organized to promote Human Rights awareness and spread Human Rights Literacy amongst the Chandigarh Police personnel.
