Governor lays foundation stone of New Grain Market in Sector-39 West

Chandigarh 21st September:- The Governor of Punjab, Haryana and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, today laid the foundation stone of New Grain, Fruit, and Vegetable market in sector 39 west after performing the Bhoomi Poojan.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki said that the UT Administration is committed for the overall development of the city beautiful. He said Chandigarh Railway station would be developed on the pattern of Berlin Railway Station and for this the contract would also be given to the company which constructed the Berlin Railway Station. He further said that Metro project has also been cleared in all respects. He said that along with 24 hour water and electricity every citizen of Chandigarh would get house to live in. He said that on completion this grain market would supply vegetables, plants, flower plants, seeds, and grocery not only to all sectors in Chandigarh but it will cater to the needs of North India.

Member of Parliament, Smt. Kirron Kher said that the new grain market would prove beneficial to general as well as whole sale dealers. She said that in this new grain market interest of all concerned would be watched. She said that Grain Market, Sector 26 became very congested due to increase in population. On the completion of this new Grain Market, she said that the problem of inconvenience to the public would be solved. She said one can buy vegetables, plants, flower plants, seeds, and grocery at wholesale rates comparatively to the local market rate from one place.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Dev, Adviser, said that the long pending demand of new Grain Market was today fulfilled. He further added that this project of new Grain Market was delayed due to the case in the Hon'ble High Court. He concluded by saying that this project of Grain Market would be completed in a stipulated time.
