Administration Hold Emergency Meeting to Assess the Preparedness for Dengue Fever

Chandigarh 21st September:- To assess the Preparedness for Dengue Fever Outbreak in Chandigarh, an Emergency Meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Health Secretary SAnurag Agarwal in which Commissioner Municipal Corporation, SDM South, SDM East, DPI Schools, Director Health Services, Assistant Director Malaria, Experts from PGIMER and GMCH-32, Medical Officer of Health, President IMA Chandigarh Branch and Anti Malaria Officer UT-Chandigarh participated.

The main purpose of this meeting was to chalk out the future strategy for the containment of Dengue jointly by the Health Department, Municipal Corporation, PGI, GMCH-32 and Private Sector.

Anurag Agarwal Secretary Health emphasized that DPI schools will issue the necessary guidelines &  instructions to all the Government schools for the usage of Dengue Home work Card as a part of their routine curriculum and for spreading the awareness not only among the students but also to the family members.

The Commissioner Municipal Corporation Chandigarh will arrange the meeting with all the Councillors and member of the FOSWAC for their involvement in spreading the Dengue awareness.

The Field activities/ operations which are being carried out by the 50 number of teams constituted by the Malaria Wing will be increased to 75 by the additional staff to be provided by the MOH, MCC. And these teams will be further supervised by the concerned Nodal Officers under the direct Supervisions of the SDM. Each SDM will supervise one team of 1 Nodal Officer and 25 Health Workers and will also hold weekly meetings.

The Blood Bank of two institutions PGIMER and GMCH-32 will ensure availability of Blood Platelets to the Dengue Patients admitted in their respective hospitals. Anurag Agarwal Secretary Health asked President IMA, Chandigarh Branch to ensure that the patients of Suspected Dengue Cases to be treated at a lower cost and the rates of the lab testing and platelets count to be fixed to the minimum so that common man can afford to be treated or diagnosed at reasonable rates.

Anurag Agarwal also instructed the Health Department and the representatives of the various Health Institutions and the Medical Colleges to ensure timely treatment to the suspected or confirmed dengue cases. He also instructed the Health Department to ensure availability of testing kits at all the major Hospitals.
