By 121 News

Chandigarh 24th August:- Many comedy films mark the success and failure stories of Punjabi cinema and it is a pleasure to watch a different kind of script coming out of this industry. Another such effort is being made with 'Toofan Singh', a film based on the black days in the Punjab of the 1980s where a person with same name raised his voice for the society. Made under the banner of Royal Cine Arts, the film has been produced by Dilbag Singh and would be directed by Baghal Singh. The film has been inspired by true events and stars Ranjit Bawa, Shefali Sharma, Yashpal Sharma, Sunita Dhir, Sardar Sohi, Raza Murad, Jarnail Singh, Harry Sharan, Deepraj Rana, Narinder Nina and Daljit Daman. On Monday, the motion poster of the film was released at Hotel Park Plaza, Sector-17. Producer Dilbag Singh has written the story and has co-penned the screenplay with Dheeraj Rattan and Surmeet Mavi. It is quite interesting to see a producer as a story writer which is very rare.

Dilbag said that the idea was in my mind since long but I was just looking for the right team. My director and my actors make a very good combination and now we are all set to shoot the film. I dream of bringing a change in the perception about Punjabi cinema.

As far as director Baghal Singh is concerned, this is his directorial debut and he is quite hopeful about the project. He said that getting back to the history is not easy but coming out with something from the history to create another history makes your life. This is the very idea behind making the film. A person did so much for the society and we are just trying to be instrumental in portraying his life on the big screen.

Singer turned actor Ranjit Bawa expects same level of love and support from his fans and lovers. He said that he is quite excited and that is very natural. The brief I have been given about the film gave me Goosebumps and I hope the audience gets the same feeling when they watch the film.

Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma is playing a cop in the film and he expects that people will love his character as they did in his last Punjabi flick 'Jatt James Bond'. The film will be shot throughout September and October and the locations have been finalized around Chandigarh. The music of the film is under production and will be out soon to sooth the audiences.
