MCM Celebrates Saavan Utsav

Chandigarh 24th August:- MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh celebrated Saavan Utsav with much fervor. Students clad in traditional attire came together to laud the bounty of nature, arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds with social activity, rituals and customs. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Ms. Bhavna Garg, Special Secretary Finance and Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh. Also present were Ms. Barjinder Bajwa, PCS, Registrar Co-operative Societies, Govt. of Punjab and Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, IPS, Director Postal Services. The guests were all praises for the ambience and festivities. Ms. Bhavna Garg also applauded the college for lending a traditional touch to the festivities.

The entire MCM campus was awash in the shades of tradition. The stimulating aroma of Mehendi, the colourful portrayal of traditional art and crafts, mouth- watering cuisines, swings adorned with flowers, the student's favorite camel rides and innovative games were a part of the festivities that witnessed massive participation from students and teachers alike. Besides sensitizing the girls to uphold their traditional values and virtues, the celebrations were also a medium of showcasing the immense talent and artistic flair harbored at MCM. Prizes were given away to the participants in various activities held at the event.

The Principal of the college, Ms. Neena Dhawan, was highly appreciative of the exceptional endeavor. She emphasized the importance of remembering and respecting our traditions. She stressed upon the fact that our culture and values play a pivotal role in ensuring a niche for ourselves and guide us through our odyssey of life.
