Chandigarh 24th July:- School of Public Health, PGI, Chandigarh is organizing 2nd Annual Public Health lecture on Monday, July 27, 2014 in Lecture Theature-1, Nehru Hospital, PGI, Chandigarh from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Dr. Ravi Narayan, MD, Community Health Advisor, Society for Community Health Awareness Research and Action (SOCHARA) has been invited to address the students, faculty and other public health professionals on the theme "Bringing the Public back into Public Health".
Dr. Ravi Narayan is a public health professor and consultant, health policy advocate and nationally and internationally known health activist, involved with promoting the social/community paradigm in public health education and public health system development for over four decades. In 1984, he initiated the Society for Community Health Awareness, Research and Action - a Community Health Policy resource group with his wife and colleagues, working with , NGOs, civil society, peoples movements and later- State and Central Health Ministries, International Health agencies - in the country and globally, promoting Health For All and a Community oriented paradigm. He has been a resource person for Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Malaria Research Centre, Ministry of Health, Planning Commission and a host of Indian and International networks and associations including WHO and WHO-SEARO etc.
