Mohali 22nd May:-- The construction work for High level bridge worth Rs. 3 crore 41 lacs 44 thousand, being constructed over Mohali runnel at Jagatpura village in SAS Nagar district will be completed by August. This bridge will facilitate normal traffic flow at Jagatpura- Bakarpur Road. This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu while he was reviewing the progress of construction work being done at site.
Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that this bridge will be beneficial for the general public & residents of nearby 30 villages. He said that the existing bridge was in very bad condition & was also declared as unsafe for the public. As such the people were facing a lot of problems, as they became bounded to follow the route through Chandigarh to come to Mohali, which in turn causes wastage of time, money & efforts. He said that keeping in view the general inconvenience & to facilitate the traffic, the Punjab Govt. has decided to construct a new high level bridge at there. He explained that the new high level bridge will be 182.43 feet long & its width will be 42 feet.
Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that the bridge will be constructed with using modern construction techniques, so that it will not get damaged due to heavy rain flow during monsoons and also the traffic during monsoon does not get affected. Deputy Commissioner directed the PWD officials to accomplish the work in stipulated time. He said that negligence towards quality construction will not be acceptable. As such, material being used in construction should be got tested for its quality.
During this SDM Lakhmeer Singh & PWD officials were also present.
