Chandigarh 04th November:--- In order to make the city rabies Free and to implement the Animal Birth Control (Dogs) Rules 2001, the NGO' s namely Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, People for Animal and Municipal Corporation Chandigarh are jointly making efforts in this direction.
The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organized free Anti Rabies Vaccination Camps for stray Dogs in association with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Chandigarh. 174 stray dogs were vaccinated during the month of November, 2013. Stray Dogs suffering from skin diseases, wounds etc. were given immediate treatment and those who required admission were taken to the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Hospital for treatment. Information Education and Communication material was made available to the public for awareness. It was stressed upon that the stray dogs be owned and neutered so that their population remains under control and which indeed are "man's best friends".
