Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society Organise Free Breast and Cervix Cancer Screening

Chandigarh 26th October: --- Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society with the help of Mobile Mammography Van, Asha Jyoti was held Free Breast and Cervix Cancer Screening today at Sahayta Cancer Kendra, Chandigarh as as part of Pink October celebrations . Sahayta Cancer Kendra was adorned with pink balloons and pink ribbons. On this occasion Pink leaflets were distributed in advance and 59 ladies registered for the screening.

 

Associate  Prof Veenu Modi from Deptt. Of Radio-Diagnosis PGIMER & Prof   Indu Gupta, former Head, Gynaecology, PGI gave a talk on Cancer awareness while Dr Anjali Aggarwal did clinical examination of the ladies. The theme for breast cancer awareness month is 'Breast self Examination-a step towards surviving cancer'. One out of every 22 women living in India will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The only way to stall this alarming scenario is to become more aware. Documentary to make women aware was also screened. More than 200 ladies participated in the awareness and screening campaign. Sahayta volunteers, cancer survivors and supporters dressed in pink clothes created a festive ambience to spread our message that there is life after cancer and it is meaningful.
