More Plantation will be done in cities, towns & villages of the District to maintain environment pollution free: Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu

Mohali, 04^th July:-- More Plantation is to be done in cities, towns & villages of district SAS Nagar to maintain clean & green environment & a separate mission should be initiated in this regard. These directions were given by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu to the officials of Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar, Education Department, Public Works Department, Public Health & Sanitation Department, & to all concerned officers of Nagar Panchayat, & Block Development officers of all blocks.

Sh. Sidhu said that all the officers concerned have been directed to start a mission for plantation of more trees at Govt properties, schools n colleges, religious places & other prominent places in the villages & towns. He said that help from social clubs & panchayat's may also be taken for the same, because besides supplying Oxygen, trees plays a major role in maintaining cleanliness of the environment. Sh. Sidhu said that officers of Municipal Corporation have been directed to identify the prominent places in their jurisdiction & to plant more trees on sides of roads. Besides these fruits & flowery plants along with shelter trees should be planted in the Parks of the city. He also directed all the officers concerned for more plantations in the jurisdiction of Nagar Councils & Nagar Panchayats.

Deputy Commissioner said that officers of Education Department & Health Department have also been directed to utilize free lands available in schools & health offices, for plantation. Deputy Commissioner said that Block Development & Panchayat officers of Block Dera Bassi, Kharar, & Majri have been directed to take immediate steps to start a mission for plantation of trees at Govt. Lands,Shaamlat (Pachayti) Lands & on sides of Link roads. During this mission help should be taken from Panchayat & Social Clubs along with other departments. He said that forest department has been directed to ensure proper supply of Plants. Deputy Commissioner said that he will monitor the monthly progress of plantation during every meeting & each officer will have to submit his report in this regard. He also said that officers are specially directed for upkeep & maintenance of planted trees.
