Mohali 04th July:-A seminar on Lower limb salvage surgery was today conducted at Ivy Hospital. Dr. Kanwaldeep Medical Director of Ivy was the chief guest at this moment.

If the oncological treatment is not impaired, limb salvage surgery is performed to avoid amputation whenever possible. Reconstruction with modular mega prosthesis plays the main role in the treatment of bone defects today.

Dr vinod kumar further added that lower limb salvage surgery is done using modular mega prosthesis. It is a hybrid system means one side prosthesis fix with cement, other side fix with screws, because ace tabular component fix with screws has longer life as compare with life of component fix with cement .According to him a 38 years old bed ridden female patient from Srinagar is operated and cured at ivy hospital, who was suffering from fibrous dysplasia proximal femur(R), initially was treated at Srinagar
