Punjab govt deploys special camp at ISBT-43 to help pilgrims reach their homes safely

Chandigarh,22nd June:-- With the aim of providing basic facilities to the pilgrims who are reaching Chandigarh after braving the rain havoc in Uttarakhand, SAD-BJP government in the state has set up a special camp at ISBT-43. 
"Round the clock control room, medical facilities and langar facility is being provided to the pilgrims reaching Chandigarh. Women police has been deployed to assist old-age people and children.Punjab police had deployed 110 buses including mini-buses, ambulances and recovery vans to evacuate the stranded people and bring them back safely. Th shuttle service is being carried out under proper surveillance and till now 16 buses have reached Chandigarh and others have left directly for Barnala, Sangrur, Amritsar, Bathinda and other places," informed Gurpreet Dhillon, SSP, Mohali, while talking to babushahi.com.
The Transport department has also deployed around 100 Punjab Roadways and PRTC buses that are ferrying the people from Uttarakhand to Chandigarh and even to their homes in various districts of Punjab free of cost. "Even CTU has deployed buses for taking passengers to their homes in Chandigarh without charging any fare. A bus was also sent to Jammu last night," informed a government official.
Indian army has done a great rescue job and all the state governments are coming forward to offer their assistance. "SGPC has set up camps at Rishikesh and Yoshimath for the pilgrims still awaiting transportation. Around 20 more buses will be reaching Chandigarh today and 20 will be going directly to various districts in Punjab as most people cannot wait to reach home," said Jagmeet Singh Cheema, SAD spokesperson.
A special team has also been deputed to help in arranging safe return of pilgrims to their native places through taxis at government expenses.
