Chandigarh, February 01, 2025:-Livasa Hospitals, a pioneer in advanced cancer care, hosted a press conference today to mark 'World Cancer Day – 2025' with the aim of raising awareness and promoting prevention, detection, and treatment. The event brought together leading experts who delivered profound insights, cultivating a transformative understanding of cancer care.
India's cancer crisis took center stage at the event, emphasizing the urgent need for early detection and prevention, especially in Punjab, where cases are rising due to harmful lifestyle factors such as tobacco and alcohol use, unhealthy diets, and pesticide exposure. From 2021 to 2024, Punjab saw a 7% increase in estimated cancer cases, from 39,521 to 42,288. Projections suggest that by 2025, cases may reach approximately 43,196, raising concerns. They stressed the importance of recognizing early signs of cancer, including unexplained weight loss, persistent fatigue, unexplained pain, changes in bowel or bladder habits, unusual bleeding or discharge, lumps in the breast or elsewhere, difficulty swallowing, changes in a wart or mole, and persistent cough or hoarseness. Prompt action on these signs can lead to better health outcomes and potentially save lives.
