Chandigarh, Dec.21, 2024:--UT boys registered fourth consecutive win in U-23 ODI, Beats Assam convincingly by nine wickets

 

Chandigarh, Riding on the winning spree, UT boys registered their fourth consecutive win at the ongoing Under 23 ODI tournament being played in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) . In a one-sided affair, Chandigarh defeated Assam by nine wickets. Chandigarh as team is topping the chart with 16 points

 

Earlier, Assam won the toss and opted to bat first which proved disastrous for the team. Jaskirat got rid of Saurabh Mousum (1) in his first over. Later, Abhishek Singh took the charge and dismissed Pradyun Saikia (18), and accounted for  Bishal Rai (26) when he found him short of his crease with 50/3 on the board. Skipper  Nihar Deka (11) also failed to deliver. Soon with the dismissal of Rituraj Biswas (25), half of the team went back at 90 . The lower order batters Abdul Aziz (3), Harsh Kumar (5), Sumit Kashyap (11), Amalan Jyoti Das (23) also had a tough time to survive as top scorer Rohit Sen (41) steered the innings to past 150.  Assam was bundled out for 167 in 45th over.

Sahil Kumar (4/24) was the most successful bowler with four wickets while Ivraj Ranauta (2/27) took two wickets.

In reply, Dushyant did the job easy for UT boys by scoring unbeaten 94 runs off 81 balls with nine boundaries and six beyond the fence. Chandigarh achieved the target in the 28th over after losing the wicket of Devang Kaushik (46). Nikhil remained unbeaten on 23 runs.

Chandigarh's next match is against Chhattisgarh on December 23.
