Chandigarh, Oct.21, 2024:--A splendid bowling from Jagjit Singh Sandhu (7/57) in the second innings steered UT boys to register an emphatic nine wickets win over Assam at the Ranji Trophy match played at Barsapada on Monday. Sandhu took a total of nine wickets in the match. Bowling out hosts for 266 runs, the visitors scored 374 runs to secure 108 runs lead. Later, Assam collapsed cheaply for 185 and posed an easy target of 78 runs for Chandigarh.
Earlier in the day, Assam resumed its overnight score from 144/7 and added 41 runs. Sandhu took the remaining three wickets of the innings. Unbeaten SC Ghadigaonkar (38) was the top scorer. Nishunk Birla took two wickets while Raj Angad Bawa got one. City boys achieved the target at the loss of Shivam Bhambri (4). Skipper Manan Vohra scored 51 while Arsalan Khan added 27 runs.
Chandigarh's next match is scheduled against host Jharkhand from October 26 at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur.
Col CK Nayudu Trophy: UT boys struggle continues against host Tamil Nadu
Chandigarh, The miseries continued for Chandigarh against Tamil Nadu at the ongoing Col CK Nayudu trophy match being played at Tripur. After wrapping up visitors for mere 131, Tamil Nadu amassed 335 runs which was well contributed with three half centuries from Madhav Prasad (59), Rithik Eshwaran (58) and Lakshya Jain (57). Anmol Sharma took four wickets. With a strong lead of 204 runs, Tamil Nadu sent back Chandigarh's top order quite early with 9/4 on the board. With unbeaten Akshit Rana (19) and Nikhil (12), Chandigarh was struggling at 38/4 before the stumps were drawn.
