Mohali, Oct.22, 2024:--Gian Jyoti Global School, Phase 2 held mock Model United Nations Conference at its campus. Where around 280 delegates debated under 6 committees from different classes participated. The event started with the Lamp lighting by Principal Gian Jot.
Model United Nations is an academic simulation of the largest international organization, the United Nations, which aims to educate students about current affairs, topics in international relations, diplomacy, and the United Nations.
During the event student delegates take on roles of international diplomats and ambassadors in various organizations and agencies of the United Nations and tackle some of the most pressing global issues. The students were grouped into two categories. From Group A category Classes 5 to 8 students participated and from group B students of 9 to 11.
The students exchanged ideas on the solutions to some of the most pressing issues currently facing 38 different countries. There were six committees role-played by the students; UNHRC, UNSC, WHO, UNOICT, UNEP, & DISEC; each presented resolutions to the concerns regarding peace and justice.
Chairman of school J S Bedi graced the programme as the Chief Guest and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students in such events. In the closing ceremony, all the winners of MUN 2023 including best chairs were announced by the Principal Gian jot & Principal Director Ranjit Bedi presented with awards.
