Chandigarh May 21, 2021:-To mark the 30th death anniversary of former prime minister of India late Rajiv Gandhi, the Chandigarh Congress today distributed more than 1.25 lac masks amongst city residents. The drive was started by S Balbir Singh Sidhu Health Minister of Punjab & Subhash Chawla President CTCC at a small function in Sector 41 organized by Bhupinder Badheri senior Congress leader & Attinder Roby youth leader.
Speaking on the occasion Balbir sidhu praised the efforts of chandigarh congress for working to help the city residents in the corona pandemic. He said that the ambulance service started by the chandigarh congress was a great effort . He offered his full support in the future endeavors of the Congress party. Thereafter
Congress workers including youth Congress, mahila Congress, NSUI, INTUC & Seva Dal, from all over the city went door to door to distribute masks in 35 blocks of the city and made people aware of the Carona pandemic. According to H S Lucky Chief Spokesperson CTCC, teams were formed in all blocks under the supervision of CTCC President Subhash Chawla and these teams distributed packets of masks containing 7 masks each to city residents .
Activists of the youth Congress, Mahila Congress, NSUI, INTUC and Seva Dal also held various functions in the city for mask distribution & awareness on corona.
The main event was organized in Bapudham Colony where people were distributed immunity booster medicines worth 5 lacs in the presence of Pawan Bansal former union minister, Subhash Chawla president CTCC & other senior leaders of the party . The event was organized by Block Congress Committee Bapudham and its president Mohd Suleman, Ravi Thakur & other leaders of Bapudham Colony, with the Active support of Manish Bansal of Theon pharmaceuticals. More than 2000 people were distributed these medicines following full Covid protocols and in the presence of doctors.
At this occasion the Congress leaders paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion Pawan Bansal said that Rajiv Gandhi was instrumental in building a modern, resurgent India. It was his vision which saw computer technology thrive in the country. He was a man with scientific temper and modern outlook added Bansal.
Subhash Chawla said Rajiv Gandhi will always be remembered for the works he did for the youth including the lowering of the voting age to 18. Rajiv Gandhi always valued association with the youth of the country & said that without taking youth on board no country can ever think of progress. The country will always miss the charisma of Rajiv Gandhi.
