Mohali 03rd July:-- The Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Sikander Singh Maluka today emphasized the need for launching the collective strategy to tackle drug menace plaguing our society. This was stated by him after releasing July edition of magazine 'Sade Pind' at Vikas Bhavan today.
Sikander Singh Maluka said that in our national war against drug addiction right from Panchayat to non government organizations would have to join hands to succeed in this. He also said that Representatives of villages should identify drug addicts of their region and should motivate them to join de addiction centers run by State Government. He added that combined efforts are needed to deracinate drugs from Punjab and other states and people should co operate with Government and make this campaign successful. The Minister further added that government is already running camps and seminars in villages to educate people about hazardous effects of drugs. He said that sports play very critical role against drugs and panchayats should make efforts to organize different sports festivals to promote sports among youth. He emphasized role of magazines and literature in our society and said this magazine has wider reach to people of state. It provides a lot of information about variety of subjects like culture and heritage, agriculture techniques, sports and various beneficiary schemes run by Punjab Government for people. He also congratulated Dr. S. karuna Raju (Editor in chief) and team for success of magazine.
