Chandigarh, Mar.11, 2025:-The music lovers of city beautiful treated with a melodic performance with strings of Sitar by Banaras based eminent Sitar Exponent Dr. Shrabani Biswas. Pracheen Kala Kendra organized its 305th Monthly baithak programe at its M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium from 6:30 pm onwards .
Today's artist Vidushi Dr. Shrabani Biswas is a distinguished sitar exponent and a Top Grade artiste of All India Radio and Doordarshan. She serves as an instrumental Music (Sitar) teacher at the Bharatratna Pt. Ravishankar Interpretation Centre, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Varanasi. Empanelled with ICCR, she has performed and conducted workshops in India and abroad. A recipient of prestigious awards , she has composed 40 original pieces in various ragas and served as a judge for major music competitions. She also played young Siddheshwari Devi in Mani Kaul's Siddheshwari.
Shrabani chose Raga Gawti , elaborate with quiet dignity of the methodical and reposeful alap followed by jod jhala followed by Madhya laaya Jhap taal composition . Amenable yet controlled handling of Sitar was ample proof of her talent , riyaaz and dedication to the music. Then she moved on to present a gat in Madhya laya ek taal with rhythmic touch and excellent strokes . She wrapped up with a melodic dhun . She was finely accompanied by eminent Tabla player Jyan Swaroop Mukherjee from Banaras, to add more charisma to this concert .
The artists were honored with uttriya and memento by Sajal Koser, Secretary of the Kendra.
