DBU's Agrim Club Raises Awareness on Crop Residue Management

Chandigarh, Mar.30, 2024:-Desh Bhagat University's Agrim Club of Agriculture and Life Sciences, in collaboration with PAU Krishi Vigyan Kendra Fatehgarh Sahib, organized an Awareness Programme on Crop Residue Management. The event aimed to educate and promote sustainable agricultural practices among farmers and students.

The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp, followed by the rendition of the DBU Anthem, symbolizing the spirit of unity and progress. Dr. HK Sidhu, Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences, extended a warm floral welcome to all dignitaries present.

Expert talks were delivered by distinguished resource persons from PAU KVK. Dr. Vipan Kumar, Associate Director Training at PAU enlightened the audience about machinery for In-situ crop residue management. Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor of Horticulture, emphasized the utilization of paddy straw in vegetable production. Dr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor of Soil Science, shed light on the significance of soil and soil testing. Dr. Manisha Bhatiya, Assistant Professor of Home Sciences, shared insights into related aspects.

Students from the Agriculture Department, including Arif, Vikas, Sonu, Alexander, Thomas, Ananya, Anjali, and Karamjot, showcased their perspectives on crop residue management through speeches, declamations, debates, presentations, and songs. Additionally, students from the Management department, Ayesha and Mansimran highlighted the importance of organic farming and shared their views.

Dr. Dalvinder Jeet Singh Benipal, Professor of Agriculture, delivered closing remarks, summarizing the significance of the event and its impact on sustainable agriculture.
