Chandigarh, Feb.14, 2024:- Punjab Govt has created an excellent environment for education in Punjab. This will eventually help nursing colleges to nurture the medical professionals from their grassroots. These sentiments were expressed by the Nursing Training Institutes Association (NTIA), an association which represents nearly 250 nursing colleges across the state.
Addressing a press conference held at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27 on Wednesday, Association's President Gurdial Singh Buttar said that State Govt has established new benchmarks in medical and nursing education but since last year, Indian Nursing Council (INC) has introduced the condition of entrance test in the admission process which allows students from many other states to seek the admission. Bhutter was of the opinion that if the students from state Punjab are not able to take admission they will be deprived of their favourite subject. The NEET exam also allows promising students from other states to get admission in Punjab while Punjab's own students remain ignorant. The association has demanded that the Punjab Govt should simplify the admission process on the lines of Haryana, Rajasthan and Karnataka and give admission to nursing courses in Punjab on the basis of 12th class merit.
During the press conference, General Secretary Dr. Sahil Mittal and Advisor & Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Dr. Anshu Kataria said that every session nearly 25,000 passed out this nursing course from Punjab and later prove their talent in other countries including Canada, Europe, America, Australia. Dr Kataria believes that 'brain drain' is a matter of big concern. He appealed to the state Govt to establish new dimensions by strengthening the medical sector likewise other industries so that the students' talent can be utilized at home only.
Opening of at least one medical college in every district of the state will strengthen this effort and will also strengthen the CM's initiative to youth empowerment instead of seeking job opportunities overseas.
Association will be soon going to start a special campaign for students which will impart students about the immense possibilities available in the nursing sector. Association expressed hope from the Govt that it will support them in this direction.
Senior members of the association including Sushil Bansal, Honey Chahal, Dr. BL Bansal, Passi, Joginder Singh, Tejbir Singh Walia, Advocate Rajan, Dr. Puneet, Dr. Gagan Mansa etc. also expressed their views during the press conference.
