Orientation Program for New Session of of B.Ed, M.Ed. and PG Diploma in Guidance Counseling Courses Held

The new session of B.Ed, M.Ed. and Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance Counseling courses at Government College of Education started with Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Sapna Nanda welcoming the newly admitted students. She also introduced the faculty members to the new entrants and acquainted the students with the high academic standards prevalent in the institution.

Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the Chief Guest of the day. During the orientation programme, Lamp of Knowledge was lighted by the chief guest Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dr. (Mrs.) Sapna Nanda and the senior faculty members of the college.

In a historic moment that resonated with the spirit of learning and creativity, the chief guest inaugurated the College Anthem which is also first of its kind among all Government Colleges of Chandigarh. This anthem which was sung and composed by College Faculty Member Dr. Aarti Bhatt, Assistant Professor in Music and the lyrics were created by NSS President, Mr. ShivamJha (B.Ed. 2nd Year student) celebrates the vibrant diversity, academic excellence, and collective aspirations that define the Government College of Education, Chandigarh. Through melodious notes and heartfelt lyrics, this anthem embodies the essence of collaboration and the pursuit of knowledge.

In the inaugural address, Prof. Kaushik lauded the students for taking up teaching as their profession in this prestigious teacher education institution of the northern region. He wished them success for their teaching career and said that a teacher must have the basic characteristics of positive attitude, effective communication, channelizing energy of pupils in constructive ways and finding self motivation. He further elaborated that education should not be only for bread earning but for assimilating fine ideas and making them our life through education.

During the three days orientation programme, students will also be informed about the details of the scheme of studies, time table, various aspects of placement cell, library services, co-curricular activities, skill in teaching, NSS and Red Ribbon Club etc. Talent Hunt will also be organized to give them the opportunity to showcase their talent.

The formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Ajay Kumar Srivastava, Dean of the college and the whole programme was anchored by Dr. Lilu Ram, Associate Professor-cum-Staff Secretary of the college.
