Speaking on this unique initiative, Shamsheer Singh, Director AIPL stated that the concept of langar—which was designed to be upheld among all people, regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender, or social status—was an innovative charity and symbol of equality introduced into Sikhism by its founder, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He began the institution of Langar where the people are fed without any discrimination, thereby upholding the religion's principle of equality and promoting oneness among all people. AIPL is committed to the betterment of its workforce and we feel that this initiative instils in us a type of `sewa'.
Langar also promotes all three types of sewa, tan, man, dhan. It involves physical work and tasks to show selfless service like cooking and serving in the langar and cleaning the area.
The langar at AIPL constitutes all ingredients for a healthy life. A Vegetarian meal consisting of dal, sabzi, rice, roti, raita and salad alongwith something sweet and tea is given to all the employees regardless of designation and rank.
