Anil Chadda Installed as New Rotary Club Chandigarh’s President

Chandigarh, July 18, 2023:- At the installation meeting of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh, former world president of Rotary International, the third Indian to hold the position in 2011-12, Kalyan Banerjee, asked the Rotarians to begin their new Rotary year in the spirit of Wimbledon.
Kalyan Banerjee who was at Wimbledon was called to the city by his senior world president of Rotary International Rajendra K. Saboo, to be the chief guest at the installation function, compared the beginning of the Rotary year in the same spirit of tennis. 
Every game in tennis, he said, begins with Love All, and it is this spirit which should continue in all our endeavours. 
He called upon the Rotarians to put emphasis on mental health since Indian population has been vastly affected by the pandemic and even the youngsters in schools and colleges are under extreme stress due to the advent of technology. 
Technology and AI is another area, which should be addressed by Rotary, he remarked. 
Rtn. Anil Chadda, a chartered accountant, received the collar of presidentship from his predecessor Rtn Vinod Kapoor, and said that the Club has already in the process of setting up a Human Milk Bank in Mohali for which Rs.31 lakh have been contributed. 
He informed that very soon single use bags for the aphresis machine in the Rotary and Blood Bank Society Resource Centre in Sector 37, shall be provided at a cost of Rs.16.6 lakh. 
The Club shall also initiate a special programme for the senior citizens, to commemorate the 70 years of Chandigarh, and 65 years of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh. 
Past RI President R.K. Saboo recalled how Rotary began its journey by donating a mortuary van in 1961, and the club has given to the city two chief justices of India and six supreme court judges. 
 Took the reins of the club leadership as President of the Rotary Club of Chandigarh 2023-24. The outgoing President Vinod Kapoor handed over the collar of the club presidentship at a ceremony held at CII here today.
The meeting began with the invocation by the students of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh.
Anil Chadda while sharing his vision for the year 2023-24 informed that the club has already signed an MoU for supply of equipment worth Rs.31 lakh for the Rotary Milk Bank at Mohali.
The Club shall also be handing over aspheresis bags to the Rotary Blood Bank Society Resource Centre worth Rs.16 lakh, which shall soon be handed over, besides creating special mental health counseling initiatives in various government and private schools in the tricity, start awareness campaign on breast feeding, organize blood donation camps, and special programmes for senior citizens.
Former world president of Rotary International Kalyan Banerjee from Vapi, Gujarat was the chief guest on the occasion who said that Rotary should undertake projects to address mental health issues that have escalated post-Covid in all sections of the society. He also asked Rotarians to address the challenges of AI.
Former world president of Rotary International 1991-92 Rajendra K. Saboo complimented the new team for starting the year with meaningful projects and said that the new team under Anil Chadda would 'Create Hope for the World', the needy and the destitute in our community.
On this occasion the club's coffee table book listing out its various projects in the city was also released by the chief guest Kalyan Banerjee.
Rotary Club of Chandigarh's new board of directors under the leadership of President Anil Chadda includes Vice President Praveen Aggarwal, President-Elect Jatinder Kapur, Secretary Col.Alok Batra, Treasurer Pawan Kumar Pahwa,  Joint Secretary Dr. Aman Bhatia, Director Club Service Baldev Garg, Director Vocational Service Sartaj Lamba, Director Community Service Teena Avninder Virk, Director International Service Aman Agarwal, Director Special Projects Abha Joshi Sharma, and Sergeant-at-Arms Shuchita Luthra, and Editor PP AP Singh.
Assisting the Board shall be PRIP Rajendra K. Saboo, PDG Madhukar Malhotra, PDG Praveen Chander Goyal, Immediate past president Vinod Kapoor.
