International Women’s Day Celebrated at Government College of Education

Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh celebrated International Women's Day. It was an initiative of the NSS Cell of the college. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests. 

Principal Dr. Mrs. Sapna Nanda officially commenced the programme by addressing the audience regarding the importance of Women's Day and the contribution of women in various fields.

The chief guest was Mrs. Anita Pal, First Lady of Chandigarh and wife of Adviser to the administrator  Dharampal, IAS. Other guests present on the occasion were Dr. Mrs. Palika Arora (PCS), Mrs. Harinder Kaur (NSS Regional Director), Ms. Beenu Rajpoot (Indian Filmmaker), Samaira Sandhu (Indian film actress), Mrs. Richa Aggrawal (Proprietor, Cleopatra Beauty Services) and Sadhvi Dr. Devpriya, HoD, Philosophy Department, Patanjali University Haridwar, who were introduced and welcomed by the Principal Dr. Mrs. Sapna Nanda and their achievements in their respective fields were highlighted.

Mrs. Anita Pal inspired the girl students to stand for themselves and stay determined to achieve their goals. She insisted that there is only one life and one must not miss the opportunity to achieve the goals. Other women dignitaries also shared their valuable experiences and brief life journey. The speakers motivated the female students to aspire high in their lives and guided them how they can overcome their struggles.

The college newsletter 'Jijivisha' was released by the chief guest on the occasion. The patron and chief editor of the magazine is Dr. Mrs. Sapna Nanda. The magazine "Wings of Vision" by Ms. Beenu Rajpoot was launched to commemorate Women's day. 

A cultural programme was also performed by the NSS Volunteers for the guests.
