Advisor Commends Rotary Chandigarh for Its Humanitarian Work

Chandigarh, July 17, 2022:- Dharam Pal, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh was the chief guest at the installation of the new team of office bearers of Rotary Club Chandigarh, at CII here yesterday evening.

Rtn Vinod Kapoor and the club's new board of directors for 2022-23 formally took over the baton of leadership from the outgoing President Rtn Jaspal Singh Sidhu.

Advisor Dharam Pal complimented the outgoing President Jaspal Singh Sidhu for commendable community service projects the club undertook and won the well-deserved Best Club Award in the Rotary District 3080.

He appreciated the plans that the club has envisaged under the new leader Rtn Vinod Kapoor, and said that Rotary is an extended arm of the Administration that compliments us in many ways in reaching out to the underprivileged in the quickest possible time.

As Rotarians you give your time, efforts and money, selflessly, to make your community and this world a better place, which makes you special, the Advisor said.

Former world President of Rotary International Rajendra K Saboo expressed gratitude to the Advisor for being accessible to the people of the city and making special efforts to give the city a facelift.

Rtn Vinod Kapoor in his address revealed that already with the health of the education department of Chandigarh Administration, special initiatives have been taken in the 46 government schools where free counseling shall be provided on menstrual hygiene  and sanitary napkins would be distributed to girls in class 6th onwards.

The club shall also be providing free HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer among girls in class 6th to 10th very soon, besides offering special scholarships to bright children but from economically-challenged background for their studies, books and uniform, etc.

Rtn Vinod Kapoor, one of the leading retailers of Tanishq Jewellery and Titan Watches stores in Tricity, has on its board Vice President Sartaj Lamba, Secretary Teena Avinder Virk, Shuchita Luthra as Joint Secretary, and Jatinder Kapur as Sergeant at arms. 

Other Club Directors Dr Aman Bhatia, Abhishek Verma, Kulbir  Dogra, Parveen Aggarwal, Geetika Rao, Abha Sharma and Reema Dewan.

Past Rotary International President Rajendra K Saboo, Past District Governors Madhukar Malhotra and Praveen Goyal, Past President Jaspal Singh Sidhu and incoming President for 2023-24 Anil Chadha shall also be a part of the new Board.

Installation Chairman Rtn Aman Agarwal informed that Rotarians and their families, members of Inner Wheel and young Rotaractors of the Rotary Club Chandigarh attended the evening.
