Under BJP-JJP Government, Haryana No Longer Safe for Women: Kumari Selja

By 121 News

Chandigarh, August 03 2021:- President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Kumari Selja said that under the BJP-JJP government, crimes against women are increasing continuously in the state. The government is not paying attention to this and the police is also not registering cases on the complaints of the victim women. These women are forced to approach the court and then the FIR is registered.

In a statement issued here today, Kumari Selja said that one such case has been seen in a village of Punhana, where a married woman died after being gang-raped, but no immediate action was taken by the insensitive government and the police. A month after the death of the woman, a case has been registered. It is clear from this incident that the government is escaping its responsibility regarding the safety of women. She said that the government should immediately arrest the gangrape accused and send them behind the bars.
Kumari Selja said that on one hand, the BJP-JJP government makes tall claims of protection of women, while on the other hand the situation is such that cases of rape, kidnapping, molestation and snatching are increasing continuously in the state. Referring to an incident in Panipat, she said that a 56-year-old Rani Bansal saved her ornaments by fighting the snatchers on her own. It is clear from this that the law and order situation has been dissolved in the state and the state government has completely failed in the protection of women.

Kumari Selja said that these figures are also confirming the atrocities on women. So far this year, 1900 cases of crime against women have been registered in six districts due to which now women are afraid to even go out of the houses.

There has been a huge increase in the cases of atrocities on women in Gurugram alone in six months. Where there were 338 incidents of crime against women in the year 2020, it has increased significantly in the year 2021. This year these incidents have increased to 528, that is, 190 more crime incidents have been registered. Every day 3 women are becoming victims of such incidents. She said that these are the incidents in which cases have been registered whereas in reality the figure is quite big.

Apart from this, where 337 cases of female crime were reported in 2020 in Faridabad, it has increased to 514 this year whereas in Nuh it increased from 128 cases last year to 132 this year, in Jhajjar from 177 cases last year to 346 this year, in Rewari from 211 cases last year to 227 and in Palwal 173 crime against women were reported last year which has reached to 213 till now this year. She said that these figures clearly show that the BJP-JJP government of the state has completely failed to provide a safe environment to women.
