MCM's Jigyasa Promotes Sanskrit

Chandigarh July 27, 2021:- The Character Building Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised a national level competition- 'Jigyasa'. Organised to promote the importance of Sanskrit in Indian lifestyle, the competition comprised of Article Writing on 'The Scope and Value of Sanskrit in Today's World' and Short Story Writing on 'Life Lesson Learned from a Character of Ramayana/Mahabharata'.

The competition received over 30 entries from different parts of the country. Required to submit their entries in Sanskrit or Hindi language, the participants' entries aptly reflected the theme of the competition, shedding light on the immense scope of Sanskrit and its relevance in the present times. The winners were awarded cash prizes and e-certificates.

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this novel initiative of the Character Building Committee to highlight the importance of Sanskrit- the greatest treasure given to the world by ancient India. She further added that Sanskrit is universally recognised as the language containing the earliest literature in the world and many languages are derived from it, so it is imperative that efforts are made to promote it. 

The results of the Competition are:

1st Prize: Sahil Kumar, Guru Nanak College of Education Dalewal, Hoshiarpur

2nd Prize: Khushhal, Govt Senior Secondary School, Jalari, Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh

3rd Prize: Riya Pundir and Saashi Chauhan, Mehr Chand Mahajan College for Women, Chandigarh

Consolation Prize: Pooja, Guru Nanak College of Education Dalewal, Hoshiarpur
