BJP in Centre Ignored the People of Chandigarh in Covid 2nd Wave: Chander Mukhi Sharma

Chandigarh July 27, 2021:- Disappointed with the failure of the central BJP government in supplying enough medicine and equipment to Chandigarh city, Chander Mukhi Sharma, incharge M C elections of Aam Aadmi Party Chandigarh, on Tuesday condemned the government for ignoring the people of Union Territory.

Talking about the latest reports on COVID-19 second wave across Chandigarh UT, the AAP leader hit out at BJP and the MP of the city. "While the people of Chandigarh were facing a shortage of life-saving drugs, the government totally ignored UT and supplied only 155 vials of Tocilizumab injections whereas the drug was in enormous demand," Sharma said in a statement.

Complaining about the attitude of BJP towards people of Chandigarh, Chander Sharma said that in the second wave of Covid over 34,000 patients were found positive and over 374 lost their lives. Still the central Govt, health ministry and BJP-MP of the city could not be able to maintain the supply of the necessary medicines and drugs to the institution like PGI. This shows the attitude of the ruling representatives of BJP.

Given that the medicine like Tocilizumab was in high demand during the devastating second wave and people had to scramble to get a single dose to save critically-ill Covid patients. He added that even after all this UT has been provided with 3 Lakh tablets of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), a drug which wasn't proven beneficial in fight against coronavirus. Not only in drug shortage but health authorities also failed to manage supply of equipment like ventilators and life saving injections.

He said that the data about the supply of medicine and equipment from Centre to states was recently tabled in Lok Sabha and it clearly shows how BJP has ignored the people of Chandigarh city.
