Desh Bhagat University Celebrates 75th Anniversary of India’s Freedom

Chandigarh April 07, 2021:- Desh Bhagat University celebrated the 75th Anniversary of India's Freedom by organizing a series of events. Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat Cell of University organized various events for students of the university. Chancellor of the University Dr. Zora Singh focused that the initiative of UGC is highly appreciable. He appreciated the efforts of the students and also motivated for more such activity.
Giving details of the series of events, spokesperson the university said that Interschool Essay writing competition on the struggle for freedom was conducted on 12th March. About 20 students from different schools participated in the event organized in the conference hall of the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Interschool debate competition on the theme of violence/non-violence was held on 19th March. About 15 students participated in the event. Student of Hindi department Santosh Kumar got first and student from Ayurveda Naveen Kumar got the second position in the competition. An online Interschool painting competition was organized on 26th march with a theme of the struggle for independence. 10 students from different schools participated in the event and expressed their views related to the said theme on charts. He further said that the 4th activity of the series was a Seminar on the struggle for independence. It was conducted on 2nd April. The event was held online due to the COVID pandemic situation. Dr. I.S Sethi, Director of research, Desh Bhagat University was the resource person. About 43 participants attended the seminar including faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, students, and research scholars. Online Valedictory function was conducted on 5th April. The event was attended by all the participants who have been active members of series of events, faculty of education, faculty of social sciences, and languages.

Dr. HK Sidhu, organizer of the events highlighted all the activities scheduled and held.
Dr. Shalini Gupta, worthy Vice-chancellor, Desh Bhagat University was the guest of the day. She also thanked the UGC for initiating such activity that will make aware the new generations about the celebration of India s independence.
