Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital Celebrates Poshan Pakhwada

Chandigarh March 31, 2021:- Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital celebrated Poshan Pakhwada starting from 16th March 2021 to 31st March 2021 under the Poshan Abhiyaan scheme launched by Govt. of India. A workshop was organized for their faculty members on training and teaching them about the importance of nutrition for Children, Lactating Mothers, and women. Chancellor of DBU Dr. Zora Singh congratulated the faculty of DBU for organizing the workshop; he said that a well-balanced diet with regular physical activity is a recipe for good health. Poor nutrition directly reduces immunity and affects physical and mental development as well as productivity.

Giving details of the event, the spokesperson of Desh Bhagat University said that the Goals and Objectives of the Poshan Abhiyaan Programme were Reduce stunting in children, Reduce under-nutrition (underweight prevalence) in children, Reduce low birth weight, Reduce the prevalence of anemia amongst young children, Reduce the prevalence of anemia amongst women and adolescents. He further said that the National Nutrition Mission is the Government of India's flagship program to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. The scheme was Launched by the Prime Minister in March 2018, the POSHAN Abhiyaan directs the attention of the country towards the malnutrition issue and addresses it in a mission-mode.

During the workshop, discussions held on India's total disease burden caused by the child and maternal undernutrition, India's position in world nutritional indicators, levels of anemia in women of reproductive age and low prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding, timely interventions of breastfeeding, age-appropriate complementary feeding, full immunization, etc.
Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College & Hospital provided Diet and nutrition counseling to patients visiting during the Poshan Abhiyaan Programme, focusing mainly on Children, Women & Adolescents.
