Chandigarh Jan. 25, 2021:- Election Department, U.T., Chandigarh celebrated the State Level function on 11th National Voters' Day, at Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls, Sector-42, Chandigarh. The theme of National Voter's Day this year is "Making our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed". Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, U.T., Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the State Level Function. The function was also attended by, Kuljit Paul Singh Mahi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jagjit Singh , Joint Chief Electoral Officer and other Electoral Officers of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency. During the National Voters' Day function, Students of the PG. Govt. College for Girls presented a colorful cultural programme.
At this function, the public and the officers present also took the Pledge for the faith in Democracy and to vote in every election fearlessly and without being influenced by considerations of religion, race, caste, community, language or any inducement. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Launched and briefed about the e-EPIC, he also said e-EPIC will be downloadable on mobile or in a self printable form on the computer.
Election Commission of India has also launched the 'Hello Voters' web radio' on these National voters' Day. The suite of 20 Apps developed by the Commission provide a perfect ecosystem to work in tandem during non-election, pre-election, in-election and post-election phases was also highlighted.
It is also stated that for all the eligible voters, who have attained the age of 18 years as on 1st January, 2021 a campaign was carried out from 16th November, 2020 to 15th December, 2020.
The Chief Guest felicitated the young first time voters by distributing the newly prepared Electors Photo Identity Cards. He also awarded the winners of the Online Poster making competitions and also outstanding performers during Special Summary Revision 2021 and ELC. He congratulated all citizens, especially the newly enrolled voters, on this historic occasion of the 11th National Voters' Day and exhorted the young voters to cast their vote in the next Elections. Other than this, 11th National Voters Day was also celebrated at the Sub Division Level and all 595 polling stations in Union Territory, Chandigarh. Further all the Senior Secondary Schools and Colleges of U.T Celebrated National Voter's Day.
